OK, so i decided to scavenge the fuel pressure regulator of my EL XR6 and put it on the turbo EB because i have a slight boost spike and i want to try a different wastegate spring to up the boost a bit and see if its my turbo causing the spike as i think it may be a little to small for the 10psi i want and its running out of puff (it runs 7-8psi fine but i want more ). So anyway the EB has the stock 270kpa reg the EL has the 300. So i swap them over a decide to go for a run in the EL to test it. I plug in the G-Tech and away i go (to the private road near my house of course) And do the usual 3 runs to get the average and get this.
Picked up three HP!!! and 0.3 of a second on my 0-100 time Before; 186hp at the back wheels and 0-100 6.98 seconds Now; 189hp at the treads and 0-100 6.68 seconds I am still yet to run the 1/4 with the g-tech on this car as the road ain't long enough. the only thing done to the car is some genie's (old ones off the turbo car) and i cut all the mufflers out of the exhaust except for the one in front of the diff. Oh its a factory manual too. but just by changing the reg and dropping the fuel pressure I've picked up power.

Conventional wisdom is that they run rich from the factory. Tuners have consistently told me they can improve performance by leaning-out the WOT fuel map a bit.

BTW that's 0.03 seconds, not 0.3 seconds. Yeah ive heard that also, so you think tickford would of just left the 270kpa one on there?

If yours is a Saphire you should already have the 270 on there. Unless you've done the tickford enhancements? It was the xr6's that had the 300kpa reg's.
But it goes to show people are better off running the standard reg when they mod there cars (determined by the A.F.R's of course) to a point because as we have all found that they run rich anyway. So more air into and out of the motor to equalise the rich afr's should really benifit them more than trying to keep pumping extra fuel in as well
