Well today i went down to Upullit and got myself a tacho dash for the festi along with some other bits and pieces but thats all gone smoothly.
well ive installed it and everything works, I even switched over the speedo/odo internals so i still have the correct odo reading even though the donor cluster has a lower reading, plus the coil spring to the needle on the donor one looked a little iffy. I also kept the 'stealth' warning lights off my original cluster as the donor one had white printing on them. My only issue which im guessing can probably be easily rectified is that the tacho seems to show too high, eg 2k at 60kph in 5th, so does anyone know what difference the tacho of the earlier 'egg' festiva 1.3L to the later one with a 1.5L (sorry cant fully remember the models exactly) |

that sounds about correct for a 4cyl
smaller engines cruise at higher rpm |

I know that, but I was thinking that 2k at 60kph in 5th sounded a little high to me cos wouldnt that mean it would be close to 4k at 110kph

It should be a straight swap in, everything correct?
You could always cross check by wiring in a temporary 2nd tach to compare?? If you are modifying your festy, or even just repairing it- there is a site and forum dedicated to 2nd gen Festiva (Known as Aspire in U.S market). If your'e interested, pop in and have a look. You may even come across a tried and tested solution?? Michael EDIT: Checked mine- and is correct. 99 dash into 97. EDIT AGAIN! www.fordaspire.com |
