What yous reckon the 3.0" is too much for the I6? I used to have one on an EB and it sounded like it had some serious grunt, almost like I imagine the V8 would sound like - it did give it a noticable increase in power and am contemplating upgrading the 2.5" on my EF to a 3.0"... what do yous all think?
Would a 3.0" provide a bigger increase in power over a 2.5"?

on an n/a motor u might see a power increase at like 5000-5500
but by that time u are changing gears. u loose all your low-mid end. 2.5 is the way to go on an n/a. thats my 2 cents anyway.

you would need high end cam, headwork and bottom end work to worry about 3 inch on 4 litres of motor.
grech you would loose bottom end torque, you may not have noticed it though with a t-5 manual pushing 3.7's, as that gearing is quite short and close together. put a 3 inch on an auto with regular ratio and you will definately feel the engine struggling to push the denser cooler gas out a 3 inch at low rpm. just remember- 2.25- mild na engine 2.5- warm na engine 3 inch- manic na/turbo engine

2.25" press bent is a std exhaust.
2.5" press bent is a std XR6 exhaust. Dont see much point at all buying a 2.25" mandrel bent, as itd flow very similar to a stock XR6 exhaust. |
