Dear Sirs.
I am from Argentina and I have an Ford Escort 1998 with EEC IV DCL. In Brasil and Argentina Ford has used, from 1997 to 1999 the EEC IV DCL, that is a EEC IV (60 pins) modified with a 16 pin communication connector (J1962). It connector use pins 4,5 to ground, 16 to + Battery, 3 and 11 data pins. But nobody know Ford Data Communication Link (DCL) specification. I have found information that Ford has used between 1989 to 1995 the same protocol DCL in USA, but with other connector and in another country too. I am looking for this specification to connect the computer with my car. I hope that you have any information about that and you can share it with me. Thanks and regards. Sergio |

Ford never sold the Escort in Australia in that time period. Instead we had remodelled versions of the Mazda 323 known as the Ford Laser.
The last Ford Escort sold in Australia was around 1980 or thereabouts. We had rebadged Japanese cars until around 2001 I believe when we started receiving the Focus. The Australian Made Falcon of that era (The AU model) sounds like it might be similar in specification Re: the 16 pin connector and the EEC PCM. But there's not the same amount of effort gone into reverse engineering that model as there has the models following it, which adopted full OBD2 specification. Luke |
