Hey guys,

I'm having a really annoying problem with my EA Falcon. When you first start the engine the car runs fine and idles great, but about 30 seconds later it starts running really rough and spluttering and if driving I start to lose power. This does this for about a minute or so and then disappears and the car runs fine again like nothing ever happened. This happens EVERY time I turn the motor off and go to drive again.

It almost seems like the car is running out of petrol, yet there is plenty of fuel in the tank and I have replaced both the fuel pump and fuel filter with a new one to see if that was the problem. Since the fuel pump has been replaced it's a lot better but the problem is STILL definitely there. Also when the engine starts spluttering it could be my imagination but the fuel gauge seems to go down(enough to notice). I also think the motor is not as powerful as what it should be when driving normally.

Any ideas?

Try replacing your spark leads/plugs, I had a problem with the car misfiring constantly, and it turned out the plugs were all rusted and the wrong ones =/
If that doesn't fix it, just take it in for a service.

Sounds like an oxygen sensor issue. The ecu will run the engine in whats called "open loop" where it waits for info from the o2 sensor- approx 30 secs after start then goes "closed loop" which means the 02 sensor is sending its info. All this can mean many different things, so a proper diag is the call. :?
