The odometer and trip meter in my XG ute died one day. Apparently it happens when you reset the trip meter while driving. Does anyone know how to get it working again? The workshop manual says to replace the speedometer unit completely which sounds expensive.

You can still purchase the drive gear from most ford parts.

you can get a whole new cluster from the wreckers but thats going to display the odometer reading from the previous car. a new cluster will display 0kms

it would be easier to just not fix it think you self lucky haha your car no longer ages :D

any cluster from XD thru to XG will be able to offer you its little cog (dog gear) for the odo its a common thing for all these clusters to do sometime in there life.

or could go see a VDO repairer in your local state they should have some replacement stock available.

Thanks for the info everyone, I'll try and get the cog off an old cluster. It just passed rego so maybe I should wait until I sell it and keep a couple thousand km's up my sleeve...
