That's my point - i don't know if a Helix Spacer actually does anything either so thats why i'm going to do some testing to see.
I can draw up a few different helix's in 3D CAD and make up some prototypes at work for testing. Once I've found a setup that works I'll get two spacers made in alloy (a plain spacer and one with a helix) and then book some dyno time. |

A bigger throttle body will give you gains. Just like a good high flow filter or a good exhaust will give you gains.
How much of a gain depends on how restrictive the stock Tb is to begin with, which I don't know. As for the helix spacer, I think it's a gimmick. I've seen them and all they can possibly do is create a swirling effect in the outside 1/4" or so of the airflow going through the spacer. The middle of the airstream would be unchanged. That's if it works. All I can see it doing is creating turbulence and restricting airflow. |

{USERNAME} wrote: so are their any gains (not necessarily just in rwkw/rwhp terms) from a ported & polished TB? i've picked up johnos (SVO XR6) old TB off him, which hes had ported to about 68mm - and will be throwing it on the car either way, but just wondering as to what i might expect?
cheers! all you need to do is look at high powered factory cars of similar engine size and compare the TB sizes. the 1UZFE we where talking about the other night is a 4L and factory quoted power is 205kw real world power is more like 220kw and they use a 70mm TB like other people have said in this thread that car makers actualy know alot about cars and how to build them so what they are doing is always a good guide to go by |

the helix thing is ok, it spaces out you TB about a inch, rite?
in doing this it increases tourque, for it pretty much increasing total runnre length a inch. because a std falcon produces peak tourque close to peak power it will give you maby 5kw tops. But it will infact give you more tourque. As power being a bi-product of tourque, so yeah. Wouldnt bother about the turbulance factor, have you seen the casting dags in a falcon manifold!!!! enough turblance, more then enough! my 2c
