thier is no hose going to my map sensor ? but thier is a outlet for one ?
where does the hose going to the map sensor come from?

it either comes from the plasic vacuum tree at the rear of the manifold or there might me a vacuum port on the lower engine side of the manifold near the aic sensor and goes to the map sensor.
if there is no hose that will be your problem!

it needs manifold vacuum to work.

these things don't like not having the map sensor connected up.

connected the hose to the map sensor and diddnt make any difference?
tried the EA ECu and it iddled fine for a bout 5 seconds then died and then when started agian went to 2 thou revs then dies and when i try and keep it running it back fires real bad but doesnt seem to be running rich?

what about the firing order of the leads??
i know that you checked the timing but have you tried moving the dizzy while its running to see if it smooths out?

umm have you got another dizzy to try?
maybe the tfi module on the side of the dizzy isnt to good..

replace the map sensor with a known working one,,just because it still does it don't meen the sensor is OK.

ok so i tried another map sensor No difference
Checked timing and got it right in IGN but still back fires when i hold the revs? and runs rich

do you think it could be the intake manifold off the 4.0l motor?
the tubes were i little fatter but the injectors are exactly the same.
it uses a lot of petrol because its running so rich

i can hear a ticking noise from the injector side do you think it could possibly be the injectors?
