I want to find out how to get more power out of the engine without the use of a super or turbo charger. I know you can get aftermarket air filters and exhaust pipes but how much more power does it give the engine? My cars a falcon ba xt line 6 with a 4 speed semi-auto.

welcome to fordmods... a full performance exhaust containg pacemaker comps.. high flow catalytic converter and 2.5 inch cat back exhaust should see your car gain around 15 RWKW.. add a performance airfilter.. 3 inch mandrel bend intake.. typhoon 2nd intake.. flash tune.. under drive pulley.. and the gains will be pretty significant.. 150-165 rwkw...

also, putting in some 3.9 or 4.11 diff gears will mean much shorter gears which means better acceleration.
So there are other things to consider to get moving than just extracting power from the engine.

Thanks guys, youve givin me alot to think about. Fordfreak ef, that 150-165 rwkw at the end of your post is that the power to be gained or the total power of the car?

Total power at the back wheels.

Ive done those things to my BA minus the 3 inch intake and the under drive pulleys and got 158.1RWKW. But kicking myself i didnt spend a fair percentage of that money on an LSD and diff gear upgrade. They are a big heavy car to get moving. |

just one thing with the gear ratio's,, ive heard that with shorter ones. on long runs, doing speeds in excess of 100km/h youll be guzzling a bit more fuel
but yeah other wise. enjoy nd welcome to ford mods!! wooooop! |

Ive put 3.89's in the au and i have not had any increase or decrease in my fuel bill. and I do 80% of my driving on roads 100 kmh+
it sits on 2600 rpm at 110. but i use the throttle a lot less to get going, and since accelerating is when you are using the most fuel, there isnt any increase in overall consumption. remember on highway at 110, even at 2600 rpm, its still running lean, and only using at worst 9l/100ks. accelrating is a different story, if you have a trip computer watch what it reads L/100 when you are taking off or accelerating and you will see why shorter diff gears wont change your fuel bill. barring the whine i get from the skyline gears, its the best mod for a 4speed auto ive ever experienced.
