Hey everyone, i have a falcon that has a jmm3000 high stall in it.
I had a shift kit fitted for a few weeks and the shift was very, very firm.

Just an hour ago, the transmission was slipping big time, all of a sudden after having driven one kilometer.

The shift kit was removed by the mechanic last week and resoldered etc.

This morning i was having a play on a dirt road for about an hour i was flogging it, holding it in first, between 60-80kph so this may be caused by overheating.

I took it to the mechanics and spoke to him, he told me it might be the fluid and filter.
I went to leave and after a 100meters it started slipping big time so i limped it back into their workshop and left it with them for the night.

I read in a search i did just before it could be the S5 solenoid.

But does anyone know what may be causing this, the mechanic thinks it is FUBAR'd.

Thanks in advance
Matt

The car does slip alot, but if it slips into gear it seems to run fine.

My service manual is 4hours away but my limited knowledge tells me its the fluid and filters, but i want to hear from you nice ppl! :)

Hey mate wish I could help ya out, but honestly I only just learnt what a torque converter and hi stall were lol 8-)

Quick question for you though, what do you mean by

'The car does slip alot, but if it slips into gear it seems to run fine.'

Do you mean that sometimes when you go to take off it doesnt connect and you just go no where revving and then all of a sudden it kicks in? Have a feeling this isnt what you mean :P

After having driven around (and having alot of fun) in an auto with a hi-stall and shift kit would you prefer it over a manual? Trying to decide which to go myself...

perhaps the shift kit killed the auto???

not the first time ive heard of it...
how many k's on the box?

S5 controls shift harshness....to me it sounds like slipping bands or clutch packs

My auto was slipping about 30,000ks ago, and it turned out to be the S5 solenoid, so i got a full flush a AU S5 solenoid put it and the bands adjusted and my shift kit put in, and its never givin me any trouble at all

didnt think that the bands were adjustable....it can be done but its not a basic operation...

the S5 is def the one for controlling the shift "feel", its the one that the shift kit modifies...im just speculating but as im no auto reconditioner

how many ks were on your box???

also full flush with TQ95 wouldnt have been cheap eh??

the box has 200,000k's now and still going nice, i had service about 1,000k's ago and everything was fine and the oil was still nice an red. The full flush was about $250. all up it cost $550 i think

Yeah thats what i mean, go manual, the high stalls overheat after flogging them for a while, so no track use is my understanding, they are great, but manual is better :)

Uh, the cam is no worse then standard down low, but im comparing that to a different car with no extractors, exhaust etc..

No high stall, dont get the 1521 wade cam, get the RP3 or 4 or whatever it is that everyone is raving about !

When i replace this one, ill prob sell it with the cam, ill get the most aggressive cam i can get and run with a stock ecu, with mostly low and midrange breathing (makes sense, your not revving high, less oil damage and heat)
