I've got a bit of a problem with my idle. I've just fitted an AU 65mm throttle body to my EL2 XR8 manual and now I can't seem to drop the idle down. I was running through the procedure in the sticky to set the base idle and TPS voltage but when I went to adjust the idle stop screw I found it was all the way out and my idle was over 1100rpm. With the ISC connected it sits at around 1700-1800rpm. I wound out the screw until there was 2mm of clearance between the throttlestop and the idle screw.
I still need to modify the old TPS because at the moment its at 1.5V with no more space to adjust but with the ISC disconnected this shouldn't matter should it? |

Sounds like you may have an air leak somewhere...

Or the spacing on the throttle cable is incorrect, causing the throttle to be held partially open

You'll never get the idle down with the TPS over 1volt no matter where the throttle blade is. Close your throttle plate right up, adjust your TPS(see the sticky at the top of the page) and then get back to us.

I was jusrt thinking the same. Without the elongation of the holes for the TPS, the TPS will actually hold the throttle open

Turns out it was the throttle cable holding it open slightly. Gave the bracket a bit of a tweak and now it's all good. TPS is sitting at 1.1v so I still have to make the holes a little longer to get it down though.

Well the point is that; even if your throttle blade is in the right spot it will never idle properly if the TPS reads over 1volt because the EEC will think you're in part throttle mode.
Now what the guys have said about something keeping the blade open artificially, is the likely reason it won't idle back at all. It's a stock engine with a factory 65mm t-body it should just bolt on and go and you really shouldn't need to adjust the TPS at all. |
