Hey guys, today i decided to change the sparkys in my ef ghia (tickford motor) as i just got the car and was not sure when they were last replaced. I was shocked when i pulled them out when i noticed they were the wrong type of sparkplug.

It had a NGK bpr5ey (the standard plug is bpr5ey-11 but im not sure if they were regapped) but as far as i know the tickfords need to run a colder plug (zgr6b-11)

I installed the zgr6b-11's now, but im wondering if running the wrong plugs would have damaged anything? I have no idea how long they were in there for..

heres a pic of the old plugs, don't look too healthy

The Tickford motors arn't that special that they won't run on the standard plugs! Besides most people with LPG on a standard motor run the Tickford plugs due to the colder heat range.

Those plugs could look worse, and as long as the thread is the same as the head & the reach isn't further than the correct plugs all is mechanically good.

I was running zgr6b-11 plugs in my EB with LPG, just changed to a BP5es, non resistor type, to see if i get rid of my miss on lpg. Gone thru the works & nothing fixes it thus far, only improves the issue for a while.....

Also fit a new set of leads from the guys @ IC & E.

Cheers

ToranaGuy
