Ok. I've just finished the "harder than it should be" task of putting in new headlight assemblies in my EF Gli. All 6 globes worked before I installed the new assemblies.
The ploblem I have now is that nothing on teh passenger side works, although I haven't checked the indicators yet. I've tried wiggling wires and there doesn't seem to be a loose connection. Everything's good on teh drivers side. I've put drivers side bulbs in the passenger side and they don't work, but work in the driver's side. I've hooked up the non-working assembly to the drivers side wiring and it works. It's definately wiring related, but I can't find where, or what. I looked for fuses, but there aren't any which I find very odd. I've found a relay box in front of the filter box, but that doesn't seem to control the headlights. The only thing I can find that might be related which I haven't tried yet is a box on the driver's side guard next to the battery. Does this have anything to do with the headlights? If I had a wiring diagram it'd be easy! But I don't Can anyone help me please? |

It can't be fuses or a relay, if one side works and the other side doesn't, as they are both on the same curcuit.
At a guess i'd say you have either missed a earth or pinched the loom going to the PS headlight. Remove the headlight assembly and go over all your wiring.

Ok. I found the problem.
The problem was I'm a d***head. Since the globes worked when I took the old unit out, I never thought to check them when I put the new unit in. The filaments had broken. Both the low and high beam on the passenger side only. i must have been a bit more abusive on that side. And there is a relay box next to teh battery and there is a separate relay for each low and high beam globe on each side. 4 relays. So it could well have been a relay. |
