My 1992 EB has been running s**t ever since i did a motor and tranny swap was 4.0l aout now 3.9l manual
Car runs so rich you can smell worse than a whores cheap perfume and uses a tonne of gas
the car runs alright most of the time when under load but at low revs and idling it fowls the plugs often causing it to miss and back fire
:x sometimes when you start the car it idles real when but after a while when the plugs begin to fowl it turns to sh#t. some times it wont start at all untill i clean the plugs or if it duz its only on a few cylndas
im running a 4.0l ecu
4.0l intake
My exhurst it a home job single coby and finishes half way under the car i am looking at buying a Rage Cat Back system
Have just bought a set of SVO side skirts 8-)
Have a gt front bar

realy p****d off
Starting to give up because i carnt get it  to run right
Goes well flowreing it 160+ never gets hot
this it not my first post on the prpblem

could be a number of things - ecu, fuel pump...

just out of curiousity, why would you revert a 4.0 back to a 3.9?

after re-reading your post - definatly the ECU, definatly.

I would personally go put the 4.0l back in.

check that the MAP sensor hose is in. adding to that check all your vacuum hoses.

it's not the ECU. or the fuel pump.

more likely to something simple like a split MAP sensor hose. posibly a split feul pressure reg line or a faulty reg.

the other thing i'd be checking is how strong the spark is. A weak ignition can cause the same effect as an over rich mixture.

probably a stupid suggestion but have you checked the air / fuel mixture on the gas system, it may have been altered unknowingly when the engine swap happened, otherwise check to see if the condensor (i think thats whats it called) is freezing over. If this is happening it can cause all sorts of problems.

It may be worth your while posting this thread in the lpg section.

BTW i am assuming its on gas unless you meant by "using heaps of gas" it uses heaps of fuel

If you are having overfuelling problems, what about the O2 sensor, could a problem with that create overfuelling?

i doubt a stuffed 02 sensor would cause that much overfuelling that it runs like a pig.

mums ED had a rooted one once, still ran fine, just a bit rich.
