Hey picked up these EL-EF trims yesterday and just bolted the back ones on fit all good and snug except for the handle and the door cable doesnt fit.....
do you just cut and bend the wire to fit and cut a small hole in the door framing or am i doing something wrong? Plus with the front trims are they the same.... any suggestions from anyone would be sweet! cheers guys. |

with the inner door rods you can either bend them to fit or replace them with one from an ef/el. i ended up just buying some ef/el ones for mine ended up being a lot easier trust me! With the EB doors I have a feeling you need to drill a hole for the handle to screw into, I didnt in mine but i think thats cause mine was a late ED and it already had the hole there.

The done thing is to change the rod aswell to the EF/L one. Is a barstard job but it gives the best result.
Otherwise you can f**k around trying to bend the rod and make it fit. s**t job than just changing it.

cheers for the help:) Its hard because your not working with alot of space inside the door. The rod connects to the door lock mechanism (obviously) and to fit the rod you need to undo the screws on the back of the door to pull it out and change the rod. On the back its a real squeeze because of the lock actuators. Most people remove them temporaraly too, but i worked with it and got them in.

To bend the EB door rods to actuate the door lock just right and have the inner door handle return easily to its normal resting place takes hours of fiddling and f@rt arsing around, testing, bending reasembling, taking apart again.
I did the bend and modify thing initially and drove around for 12 months, but the door handles were stiff, notchy and just didn't feel right. I got the factory EL ones and installed them and it has been great ever since. Best half a day spent installing them ever. BenJ
