Is PVC Pressure Pipe alright to be used in a custom air intake system.
Currently i have a BA "BBQ Plate" and peice of PVC and a EF airbox lid. I need to buy some of that intercooler joiner so connect the pvc to the ba. should i use the PVC or 80mm Exhaust pipe? opinions?

when it heats up it can warp pretty easy.
hose clamps may slip off, depends if there is any strain pulling the pipe anywhere

When i first did my airbox I used pvc, it melted within a week. You're better off using a plastic that is made to deal with the heat associated with engine bays and intake temps. If it has to be plastic try and find a larger intake pipe off another car, F250 or something like that. I ended up using 3.5" i.d. steel tubing with ceramic paint to reduce the heatsoak internally and externally.
Be warned tho, 3.5" suited my setup, but reduced the low down torque significantly, this was fine because i could launch the car with higher revs being a manual, and it would pull hard all the way to redline, but for a streetable auto, you're better off with 3" i.d. I tried many combinations over the life of my car, and one thing i learned is that the aluminium retains just as much heat as steel, so it is worth ceramic coating also. I hope this helps

Well as soon as i posted this topic i went back to work from lunch, stopped at the exhaust shop around the corner and i scored some 76mm stainless steel exhaust off cut..
it was the perfect size i will be installing it in the AU on the weekend or next couple of days. I also polished it up and looks sweet lol.. will post pictures soon.

You could also use an old 3.25 inch aluminium driveshaft tube. If only you were in Melbourne i could give you plenty of it...
