Put it in the plastic intake runner which spirals the air and causes a better air fuel mix. To me it would only make sense after the throttle body because the butterfly valve would straighten the air going into the intake manifold. Seems like a cheap way to get a but more power. Anyone tried it? |

i reckon they are a scam ... I mean it "whirls" the air around to mix better, but by the time it goes through the inlet valve hole any "whirling" of the air would be totally undone ... a scam I tells ya!

This comes up on the forums every 6 months or so. IMO on an EFI car it will do nothing, might actually cost you some power on higher powered models. The EFI manifolds are fairly long (1-2 feet), with a couple of turns and usually a plenum, so any effect te hiclone has will be gone by the time it gets to the combustion chambers. If it did work, every car manufacturer would use similar designs instead of spending millions in development to reduce emissions and increase power.

I gather you are talking about the helix spacers sold by Herrod etc. They are similar but are used to overcome restriction caused by the throttle body. There the helix spacer is bolted between the throttle body and the manifold, the swirling action causes lower pressure on the intake side which helps pull air through the throttle body. |

Has anyone looked at the power graph for a N/A engine on that hiclone site?
Jesus! The hiclone gives you between 2 and 10 kW LESS power up to 105km/h, then it gives you a measly 5kW more for the last 500 or so revvs before the rev limiter would kick in. I don't know about anyone here, but there's NO way I'd be spending money on a car to get less power. http://www.hiclone.com.au/output.htm Edit: And then after them proving that it reduces power on teh Commodore V6, there's a testimonial from a Commodore V6 owner saying it gives more power! Scam, scam, scam, scam, scam!!! |
