The BA V8 cable attaches to the same side of the box as E series if that helps.

Yeha - thats what I was working on, but Im interested on the shifter itself - is the 4 and 6 shifter identical except for the "7 speed" sticker, or do they move a different amount?

there somewhat different, the 6 speed pushes a rod down like the old system, where as the 4 sped pulls up for starters.
the 4 spd shifter, mounts with a screw, as the 6 sp seem to just be a push on fit.

I'd love to get my hands on the 6 speed shifter, as I reckon I could use it to make a fairly easily method to fit ba shifters into ef/el, meh.
