Hey guy's, I have been having problems with my auto after replacing a trip computer (clock wasn't working). I have reset the base idle and checked the TPS values at the ECU and the TPS module and all are within spec, also checked the gear selector switch in all positions and all were in spec. Then I checked the vehicle speed sensor and all good apart from one reading between the positive and sensor wire got 0.04v should have been approx 8.5v, so I investigated further.
This is what I did. The Gregorys book says to check the sensor and positive wire at the speed sensor connector at the gearbox, unplugged with the key on this is how I got the 0.04v which should be approx 8.5v. I have traced these two wires back to the ECU and got 11.4v at the ECU, then checked the voltage for the same wires that go into the cluster at the plug, unplugged and key on and got 11.2v. I then checked the coresponding wires that come out of the plug after going through the cluster and go to the speed sensor plug and got the same low reading as checking how the gregorys book says. I get 8.7v (should be approx 8.5v) from the power wire at the speed sensor connector earthing back to the chassis. I assume this means a problem with the cluster, does this make any sense at all, and where do I go from here.

Suppose I should have said what the problem is with the auto, It's holding on in first you can keep building the rev's and it wont change up, back of the accelerator a bit and it will change into second, well I think it's second because it wont change up any more and I can sit on 100kmh but I am doing 3200rpm. The auto before fitting the trip computer was spot on thats why I am thinking it is an electrical control problem.

hey there, I'm sort of having a similar problem, although I can't hold any gear...drive or bust for me...are you able to post any pictures from your gregorys manual?
I'm getting the right voltages at my gear selector and I have replaced the inhibitor switch...I'm leading to believe that I have a buggered wire somewhere. |
