hey all
I have an 97 futura and i noticed that there is a hose on the left hand side on top of the diff that leads somewhere to the boot i would like to know what the hose is for as with mine it broken.

is it a vital part on the diff or just another useless thing that has just been added.

Yes it is the breather hose.

Just about every e series I have seen has a broken diff breather hose. So don't worry about it, unless you are doing some serious water crossings.

I would fix it because it might also stop dust and dirt and excess humidity/condensation from getting in.
