G'day guys. I've been reading some of the other threads on this and it seems that Pedders has some very mixed reviews as far as the quality of the service goes.
It's time to replace my shocks because I didn't do it when I put Superlows in and I'm sick of the poor ride. It seems like the Pedders GSR shocks are a decent product but would I be better going to another dealer to get them fitted, rather than doing so at the Moorabbin shop? I was quoted $810 for the sports ryda shocks, fitted and wheel balanced. Any advice, alternatives, opinions or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks lads. |

bendigo is VERY professional and guys at the counter are friendly. ask an arm and leg for everything.
Ballarat (today actually) they look a little shabby, have a bit of an additude, but still good. ask an arm and leg for everything. i got free install on my shocks and it wasnt even their fault. i did a thread on it http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopi ... ht=pedders but, you get what you pay for, bottom line. different places are better and worse in different respects. my 2c

Thanks for the link.
That thread is worrying... Many people say that Pedder's is s**t... expensive, bad service, unnecessary sales etc etc. The trouble is that no one suggests an alternative. I am not particularly knowledgeable when it comes to this sort of thing, I never took interest in cars until recently so I know f**k all about replacing parts and whatnot. I could well be taken for a ride by any shop I go to as far as replacing unnecessary parts is concerned. I'm the sort of person that will replace something rather than go the cheap option and try to squeeze a little bit extra out of something that's on the way out, so I guess I'm trying to get any suggestions regarding the best shops to get the right service. |

Australian Suspension in Braeside.
Monroe are great shocks and have 2 year warranty when everyone else has 1 year.

Call up Pedders and tell them you work in a workshop and need 'em for a customer . Send a mate in (so they don't recognise you) and pick 'em up at trade price.
Then just go to any bog standard place to get them installed. Changing shocks is an easy job and should take them about an hour max. Try and find someone who charges by the hour and not the job. If you can't find that, say someone else could do it for cheaper because it's not that hard of a job. That's what I'd do anyway

If your prepared to do it yourself or with the help of a Ford Mod member it will save you hundreds and should only take a few hours. I saw these shocks yesterday on ebay, they are the new Monroe shortened shocks and at $370 for front and rear its not a bad price. See link >>> http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Ford-Falcon-EF-E ... dZViewItem

Centreline Suspension are good...though they are in Thomastown...fair drive for anyone in the east. Bit dear, but they look after you.

I used Pedders to rebush the entire suspension with Nolathane plus fit a remanufactured rack & pinion (all up about $1300). I found them reasonably priced when compared with quotes from some other local suspension places. The customer service at the place I went to was OK as well. Unfortunately, the manager had to do most of the work as some of his staff pulled some sickies.
If you're in western suburbs, I recommend Hoppers Stoppers for any brake and suspension work.

By the sounds of things no one here can change shocks!
Kurfurst what part of Melbourne are you in? Im in South East and can offer to fit the shocks some weekend. Will only take a few hours tops and will save you plenty. Once you see how its done you will be saying that was easy. |

Why would you need an air compressor? |

Awesome responses, guys, thanks very much.
Joolz, that's a very generous offer. Weekends are impossible for me, though, but the offer is much appreciated. Thanks anyway, mate. Braeside is quite close to me, so I'll go down there and see what they quote. Thanks for the tip, Rick. Cheers for the replies, guys, much appreciated. |
