Hey all our 95 DF LTD just clocked over to 180 000km's & the little spanner thing lit up on the dash. just wondering how to get rid of it or is it something that a ford mechanic does ?????
Cheers Tezza.........

pretty sure all you do is hold the trip reset button for 10 seconds. then it'll be gone.

Exactly, at least service or get the car serviced and then remove the spanner, that way you don't forget. So that your trip reading does not disappear, hold the trip button down, turn the key to "on", wait until you hear the beep, release the trip button otherwise it might still wipe the trip reading. If it is "close" (I can not remember how close it had to be) to the kms that the spanner shows you can also pre remove it, the only way you know is you have to listen for the beep, it stops the early customers being worried about the spanner coming on even through they had the car serviced.

Made sure i got my $8000's worth out of them before i brought it lol............

plugs leads oil/filter fuel filter's diff and gear box oil coolant and then just a check of most moving items brakes, thermos, wheel bearings etc etc. 50K intervals for major services for EF/EL models, even if it was 40K intervals 180K isn't a major, 180K major would be for 60K major intervals. Differential oil is never in the service list, it is a replace as required but I would recommend maximum 100K intervals or as required (inspect oil colour at services). Auto transmission is expect as required but recommended 50K intervals if towing etc, I recommend every 50K, better to be safer than sorry, under severe conditions it may need changing earlier, if done before oil discolouration only about 4ltrs is used on a pan drop, full flush uses about 15ltrs and will require a flush machine to be hooked up to transmission cooling lines, full flush is the best, it isn't cheap but cheaper than replacing the transmission in the long run. Manual transmission oil replacement is every 80K. Coolant, inspect and I recommend testing with coolant test strips minimum because coolant can sometimes last longer (saving you $$$) and sometimes it can fail premature, there is better ways like using a refractometer but most small fry auto repairers/dealers etc probably will not have one (I haven't used one of these in over 12yrs, and I also had to do chemical tests along with it). I found the 50/50 mix the V8's used probably would out last 50K. Brake fluid replacement is every 24 months (regardless of kms) or as required, Ford recommended every 12 months under severe conditions, brake fluid is an important one often forgotten, but can cause brake failure. Inspect and repack wheel bearings 50K, grease brake calliper slides Spark plugs are 50K and leads are as required (not a bad idea to change them before they fail, not after causing other grief)
