Hi, wondering can i put tyres rated 84V on my Ef Fairmont as i can get a set for nothing with heaps of tread..
"84" is rated to 500kg per corner load, and "V" is 240 maz speed...... so on paper it seems to be ok, but whats the real answer ? lol |

probly should b a 91v/w/y
u'd get away with an 84v tho what size r the tyres?

16"
i am worried though that while 500kg load should be fine while stationary, how much extra load is on the tyres while cornering? |

also...load index on tyre is 4 rim load...all depens on rim size and what its made of and the rim load index 2...
eg. u could put 84v rated tyres on a set of 17"alloys (rated @690kgs) and crack a rim... get wat i mean?

tyres are 195/50/16 , 84V...... will throw my speedo out by 8kph @ 100kph, but ive got a speedo corrector which will fix that.
Obviously the tyres are made for a medium size car, but was hoping they are plenty capable being fitted to a falcon |

steel wheels???
should b fine alloy's...wouldnt risk it (not that its all that expensive to fix a cracked rim if u know the right people.)

nah will/could be going on some Concorde alloys
So the load rating on a tyre can affect the rim? I thought it was more about how much load it can take before the tye blows up lol..... is that right? |

yer can effect the rim...if the rims load range is higher then the tyre's the rim will most probly crack on impact.
and yer the load index is also 4 the tyre (500kgs a side) 1000kg's across the a**...would take it, but if ur rim can't there is no point... b forever pulling ur wheels off 2 get repaired... ...i'll source u the proper index rating 2moro wen im at work. but 84V doesnt sound right, as most alloys have a 690-840kg load index(unless they r truck rim's which is a whole diffrent subject.)

yeah cheers for your help, kinda thought it was a dumb idea
I might just use these tyres for the missus car..... she has a Mazda 323 and the tyres on it now have 82 load ratings, so should be all good |

look at your tyre placard inside the door, you must meet or exceed that.

there's a point...
alot of tyre placards ar faded ad scratched up tho... id prefer 2 agree with ma tyre fitment guide... has all aspacts of tyre "does and donts" 4 every model car/light truck from 1970-2006.
