Anyone know how to remove the fuel pump in a ef fairmont. I have gotten the large hose clamp off and understand that the plastic cover unscrews but if you use a screwdriver and hit it with a hammer it just damages it. Any tips for the easiest way to remove.

get a piece of timber, about 50cms long, and drill two holes in it just under the size of the large cap, press in two long bolts with washers on either side and tighten up the bolts with the nuts, (use like 10cm bolts) this makes a great spanner for it!
one 5/16ths single hex spanner will open the hose clamp with ease

Been mining on fuel pump threads, and thought I'd bring this to the top again..
^ That is a brilliant idea pictured above!! May / may not have to knock one of these up during the week when I replace my dieing pump |

Owner of a blue and white apron? = Are you a butcher?
Works every time? how many times does one have to replace it? = if you keep replacing it, perhaps the Neanderthal procedure is taking its toll. (jk) A lot of people have sooked about removing the ring, even so, a blunt object and knockometer hasn't always worked for them! I have laugh when i hear people trying to undo the clamp with a screwdriver tho :/ when theres a hex nut evident.
