I swapped clusters today with my spare one and the spare after a minute f the vehicle being on makes a warning tone - like a beep beep, then pause then beep beep. constantly
however no warning lights are on and my old cluster i plugged back in did not have the same problem

sure all the globes work in the back to ensure no warning lights on?

If the warning lights are blown then it gives an audibly beep instead of a warning light if something is wrong with the lights.

This Gremlin has me stumped, I tested all the globes they are fine, pulled the cluster apart and out of the housing, plugged it in and it didnt beep - tried it a few times and still didnt beep, i then put it back in housing thinking it was sorted andgo back and pug it in and it doesnt beep - thinking it was sorted put it back in car and remount dash fascia etc and it was fine
turned the car on and off a few times and no beep. i then turn it on whilst im putting my tools away and the f**k beep happens!
This is friggin wierd

Sounds like there is a wire shorting once you've done the final installment that doesnt short when there is no pressure on it or a kink in a wire that causes an open circuit when the facia is back on.

problem is it doesnt happen with the original cluster - so im thinking its more a fault with the replacement cluster

Is there any wiring in the cluster?
Could be there is a connector gap too big or too small.
Or it could be simply the new cluster is completely buggered. :(

Check some of the bulb holders to see if they are loose !
Mainly the Suspension, Airbag, and ABS ones are the main culprits.
We have an EF patrol with no Airbag Light, (Cus a worker said it was an OH&S issue if the airbag doesnt work, so we removed the bulb and said the car doesnt have airbags.... I know, I know.... Im a bodgy C*** !)

The thing beeps constantly for a couple of minutes.

I also didnt have the Self levelling bulb originally in mine, and it beeped constantly like you are complaining about, everytime I turned the ignition on.....

Anyway, the bulb holders can get loose, or get some dirt and crud inside of them, making electrical contact with the bulb a bit iffy most of the time....

Try swapping those 3 Bulbs with some other non critical ones, and see what happens ?!?!?!?!

Just a thought. Could it be that the new cluster is trying to give you a "low fuel warning" type of indication?

The very technical description of the beeping sounds like what I get every couple of days when I have gone thru yet another tank of Premium.
