hey guys today went to move my car for the first time since...
engine rebuild el into eb conversion It does this: shows gear on cluster (high series) revs drop when put into reverse or drive and raise when in park or neutral just wont turn the wheel (like no drive-shaft) Also it has 2500rpm high stall torque converter installed |

If this the first time you have driven it since installing the high stall, it may take a while for all the oil to pump through and allow the converter to hook up.

Jack it up and give the wheels a spin while in neutral. Sounds like a stuck handbrake to me. Would have thought it would have driven past it, but you never know. Just make sure everything is spinning in case.

from memory the stall converter takes 3 or 4 liters of fluid, by running the car with out enough fluid eeeek might not be good. I would follow the procedure for filling both converter and transmission. i Brought a 20 lt drum of fluid from a parts place for $100 and still have enough left for a service later on. quite disturbing the color of the fluid which came out.

The book is talking about a home mechanics service, about 4 ltrs will come out when you drop the pan, but the remaining 6 ltrs stay in the convertor, pump, lines, radiaitor. Fill instructions differ if the auto is pre EF II to EF II onwards. Does your auto have a dipstick? (= pre EFII) If not (= after EFII) Both require the auto to be warm. Then fill to mark on dipstick (pre EFII) or till it leaks out the filler hole (post EFII), like you would for a diff. Seal and repeat until no more goes in/mark on dipstick no longer sinks lower.

according to max ellerys mannual 3.8 lt for a service !!!! 10 lt for a dry fill ( ie filling a empty converter and transmission)
when i flushed mine i filled it to it was level with the fill / drain plug then disconnected the lines running the the radiator and with some one under the car pumping fluid into the fill drain plug ran the engine (with park brake on) and shifted into each gear (park revers neutral drive 3 2 1st) untill the fluid ran clean from the line to the radiator. then i stopped the engine and replaced the lines to radiator and ran it again and filled it up to the level of the fill/ drain plug. Pretty much i did as described in the link i posted first you could always just keep putting more in with it running ( while changing gears till the level stops dropping, but flushing transmissions is very good for them and at say $ 200 for fluid and a new filter its cheap protection for a very expensive and needed part of your car |
