I get 500-515kms before the red light comes on. Good economy for a V8. Timmeh, Me and the missus need to learn to drive like you I take it you do abit of highway driving in those kilometres? The missus car got a best of 500kms to a tank on our last tank. That was all city driving with two drives down the freeway to about South st and back. I think the manual would help though. Wild_ef, Timmeh is pretty much on the ball. If you had 4grand to spend on it and 4grand only then i'd be getting the GT40Ps, 1.7 rockers and a tune. Along with all the usuals like exhaust, K&N, CAI, u/drives etc. This is assuming you start with the EL 185kw with Explorer and EL GT headers.

I've got a 5spd series 2 and i usually get about 14-15l/100kms. Thats with a lot of city driving and a lot of hard driving too. On long highway trips though I can get that under 10/100.
Runs an AU 65mm throttlebody/MAF/EGR, BMC panel filter in a hacked up airbox with AU snorkel, hi-flow cats and a 3inch pipe running from the centre muffler to tip with the rear muffler removed. Goes pretty hard and sounds awesome but still feels really choked by the heads so if I were going to do any work to it they would be the first to go. |

Half is driving through the suburbs and the other half is going up the great northern highway. I do change gears occasionally going from 1st to 3rd or 2nd to 4th as well. Car rarely sees over 3000rpm. Sits on 2200rpm at 100 or just over. I save the 196rwkw for overtaking and the drags at WAW at Kwinana. Other than that I've got to drive like a normal person cause of the kid. |

haha awesome, is it worth changing the el gt headers to a set of pacemakers or are they good enough?
also timmeh i read that your clutch didnt hold up after u did a few mods? surely in average condition the stock clutch and t5 would be fine with just gt40p's, rockers and a tune?

after changing the spark plugs with GT headers, you will want to get rid of them, bloody #3&4

The std clutch should hold up with those mods if its not abused, same goes for the T5.
EL GT headers will be fine with the mild mods you plan. Pacey's probably wont give you a good "bang for buck" gain over the GT headers. If you decide to go abit further then they may become a restriction but you can always open up the collectors, i believe the primaries are 1 5/8", or are they smaller? With the angle of the spark plugs and the postioning of the primaries it can make changing the spark plugs a bit of a PITA with a lack of room. I had an arkward time doing this plugs on the missus AU with GT40P's and 220kw headers.

Not sure how much abuse my XR8 got before I bought it so I can't comment on the clutches performance.
The new clutch and flywheel was a good investment I thought. I had the money so I did it. |
