My horn seems to be stuck on. One night (at a convenient 5am) my horn started to blast, and wouldnt go off, so i ran downstairs and disconnected it, and it was all good after that, until another night a week later and it went off again and wont go off.

Does anyone know if its the horn itself? or the pad on the steering wheel? I havnt actually tried another horn, i might go try a mates one. Im pretty sure it isnt the relay, because when you press the horn button, the relay clicks on and off like it should.

Stupid car's becoming more and more unroadworthy every day.

A mate of mine has a similar problem, but opposite, the horn won't turn on. The relay is fine, the horn itself works, just the steering wheel button won't make the relay 'click'.

As for your car, it is strange that a horn should just go off for nothing. I'm not sure on the wiring in an EF/EL, but if you own an EA/EB/ED, the horn relay is the yellow one, or the very end one in the EA (I think)... follow the wires back, and have a look around the relay block, and see if anything is shorting out.

On the EL's I think SmartLock, sets of the horn if someone enters the vehicle? or opens it or something? that would mean that the horn is connected to the smart lock module somewhere, which means that there;s a problem there.

Have you noticed any other symptoms?

Cheers

My cousin has exactly the same problem in his AUI. One day the horn just went off and would not stop, so he just disconnected it. It sounds like all is ok but the problem is in the steering wheel, there is a little pad thing which has collapsed. Hes never got it fixed because of the cost ford quoted him. Lets just say they want closer to $1000 then $500.
