yeah my s**t is really starting to not look so good...
can anyone suggest the best way to get the paint on my car looking reasonable again.. I was thinking of maybe a rotary buffing pad attached to a drill and some name brand polish... good/bad other $cheap$ suggestions please.....this is not my pride and joy so wanting to spend maybe $25 LOL

maguiars clay bar will make the paint smooth as glass then follow it up with their next gen wax. it might cost a bit more than $25, but it will last ages and brings it up pretty nice

Definately follow up with both Polish and Wax after using a clay bar.
The lazy mans option would be to use Turtle Wax Liquid Clay Bar, heard good things from this though never I havn't heard a direct comparison to an actual clay bar. It sounds like you don't polish or wax often so opt for a synthetic wax, these last longer.

I have never polished this car, had it for 2 years and it was below average when i got it...
is the rotary buffer the way to go or just use a rag and do it by hand?

yeah the clay bar is about $25-$30 and the polish about $24-$30 from autobarn. i would use the mothers clay bar and this new product called black magic its also at autobarn and its on special around $10, i know the owner so i spend alot of time there. its a really good product i have used it myself on my ba xr6, all up youre looking around $30. hope it helps but i can swear by the mothers and black magic products.

as for the hand or buffer. go the buffer, i got a brand new design from mothers, called the palm polisher it also is on special for $110 its a bit pricey but your can use it forever. again its a really good product.
