To anyone who has opened up and resealed their head/tail lights, how did you clean out the original glue? i tried just scraping it out but its going to take me about 4 months to finish it at this rate!!

any hints on how to do it? or just heat it back up and do it like that?

Cheers

either use a hair dryer, or if that does not work use wax and grease remover. maybe a 'hot devil' soldering gun/ mini blowtorch.

Search for 'MAVS19' threads and have a read.
There wasn't anything he didn't know about car external lighting.

And if you come across them, be sure to post up here, as I've got an idea floating around for tail light mods which I have not seen done yet.

That's what I did for my EL's LED taillights.

oven, sharp hobby knife, smallish flat blade screw driver, and burnt fingers.

yeah mavs was a gun, i loved his HID thread

i looked back through some of his old stuff and found he seems to just do what you guys suggested and heat it up and jam it back together, so thats cool, i can do that.

only problem is i re-read his HID thread, and now i have started conspiring plans to retrofit BMW HID projectors into the front end!!

Yeah, it's one of the more dangerous (to the wallet) threads on here.
