Anyone know which is the ignition power wire behind the ignition barrell (not constant or accessories power)? My genuine Ford manuals are currently out on loan.

No such wire on the back of the ignition barrel on my EF. I was just playing with the multimeter, and I found: Green wire that gets 12V when the key is turned to the 2nd position, but when turned to the 3rd position is looses all volts. yellow/red wire that has 12V when key at 2nd position and 3rd position. red/black which only have 12v when key is at 3rd position. What I mean by 2nd and 3rd position. 1st is accessories on - e.g. radio and a/c fan turns on. 2nd the dash lights all light up, gauges etc. give readings. 3rd position the starter motor turns the engine over. So I assume the yellow/red wire would be what is considered ignition power as it's on for the 2nd and 3rd positions? red/black would be starter motor maybe? green i got no idea? |

Thats wierd, as mine is indeed that colour. Is yours an EF1 or 2? Mines a 1.
From your multilmeter test, i would agree that the yellow red you tested is ign on. Green on yours is acc.

From your multilmeter test, i would agree that the yellow red you tested is ign on. Green on yours is acc. 1994 EF so series 1. Green can't be accessories though, as it does not have 12volts when the key is in the accessories position, only has 12 volots when key is in the ignition position. Has nothing when key is in the crank over position, so it's a bit of a weird one. |

Hmm, tis wierd indeed.
I checked my gregorys manual, and its lists as follows: 12v pos into ign barrel - Yellow ACC out of barrel - Black/Yellow IGN out of barrel - Red/Green START out of barrel - Red/Blue This is out of the gregorys manual covering aug94 - sep96 EF models. It seems to fit with my cars wiring, although i doubt they'd be different colours, but could yours have an EL ign barrel?

Yeah, it is possible. 700,000kms, plenty of things could have been changed in that time... |

I own the genuine Ford ones, but they're on loan to another member at the moment as he's fitted a complete aftermarket ECU and wanted some info on the electronics of the tranny etc. |
