does anyone have the specs for the AU and EF temp sensors...
I want to use the AU style (cylinder head temp) sensor instead of the e series sensor....reason is that the AU gives an actual cylinder head temp and the e series just senses water temp...this is useless if u run out of water... hopefully it will be possible to use the EF guage with this sensor...maybe will need some extra resistors wired in series or parallel with it....

I Would say they would be the same. The Air temp and coolent temp sensors have the same output. To check them measure the resistance with a multimeter with them in the air. Then stick them both into some ice water and measure the resistance, then put them into some hot water and measure the resistance. Now compare the results. If they are close then it will work.

Low coolent light works a treat!

I am running the AU temp sender at the rear of the head. No problems just need to extend the wires from the Thermostat back to the rear of the motor.

Where does it go at the rear of the head??
And coolant light only works a treat if the problem is dropping all your water.... my problem was blocked radiator... so it never registered an over heating or low coolant cause the problem was water not flowing... not lack of it. Therefore id really love to get an AU sensor to stop this happening again.

could you also use something like this?
http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.cfm/ ... prd330.htm I'm thinking i might fork out for an autometer pyrometer.... But then i'd need the normal operating temp for our head =P... although... its all working fine atm... so whatever it sits at is ok... then if it gets hotter I'll know something is a bit amiss.

Yeah, its just since i had to get a replacement head, and do a heap of other work as a result of the blocked radiator, id love to get ontop of the overheating head early from now on, to stop wrecking a gasket and head.
