Hi all,
I just got given a full set of front stuts from an EF XR6.. monroe 94DT... In as new condition... Are these things any good? I mean is it worth my effort to install them?? Also, how much different is the right height of these things over standard? if it's not very low.. I might as well stick some low springs on it before I put them on.. For that matter, are the front struts the same from EF to EL?????? many thanks regards Frank |

The ride height will not change and the struts are the same between EF and EL. But if they are the originals out of an EF they may not be worth putting in as they are over 10 years old but if never really used they should be ok.

Guy had them in his shed for over 6 years so guessing they've not had much use..
I thought XR6 springs where shorter than standard falcon? (the struts have the original springs on them) |

The XR6 springs are shorter than standard with an approximate
difference in ride height of 30mm. |

I remember this when working on them when they were new. The ride in the EF XR6 was a lot firmer, quite harsh really, compared to the EL XR6.

i wouldnt bother putting old original shocks/struts in the car. Might as well fit new ones while your going through the trouble of fitting them

Don't Monroe list the same shock part numbers for standard height and lower height vehicles for aftermarket replacement?
I know they have 2 different headings, but I'm pretty sure that if you look at the actual part number they're the same. If your wanting to lower your vehicle, then I would put the new ones in, it's a cheap way to get the front down. Otherwise, don't bother unless your current shocks are rooted. |

True, Monroe do list the standard and lowered as the same part number but they now have the GT Sport range which are a shortened body designed for superlow springs or lower. I saw them listed on ebay for about $370 front and rear. |

These do seem much shorter.... and thicker in the shaft???
Looks like they only have a few years use on them.... I might drop some lowered kings on it and stick them in when I have the engine out for the supercharger and manual 5spd conversions. so now I have fairmont Ghia EL ECU and XR6 struts.... slowly getting there... |
