Hi there,
I own a 1994 model ED falcon futura classic, and i have decided to add a little bit of flare to it by way of hood vents. unfortunately i dont like the EB gt/xr ones as they just dont appeal to my taste. I have however considered getting some Drift style hood vents from a donor bonnet say from either an silvia/skyline. Id prefer to do as much from home as possible. Whats your take on this, and how should i go about doing this?

You'd need to take a section from your donor bonnet.
Then strip the paint on your ED bonnet and the scoop/vent thing using generic paint stripper. You can cut a chunk from your ED bonnet to actually make the scoop draw more air into the engine bay otherwise if you're lazy just whack the scoop onto a flat surface - Hence achieve nothing apart from aesthetics. Then AFAIK, you have to graft the scoop onto the ED bonnet. (Not sure how this is done) and paint everything to make it sit like stalker's ones. (Paint looks mint on that BTW). All in all, you should be able to do it at home if you can graft one material onto another (depending on what material the vent/scoop is). Hope this helps

for the record cosworth vents don't draw air in they draw air out creating better crossflow through the radiator. all to do with pressure differentials.
and 'grafting' could involve anything from gluing to welding to fibreglassing it's pretty vague. usually you would make a template of the hole you wish to cut > only as big as it needs to be. then position the vent where you want it on your bonet then use your template to mark and cut the hole. don't do it without cutting a hole coz thats gay and you can't install cosworth vents without cutting a hole. then use sikaflex or similar to bond the vent to the car, or you can glass it on but this depends on what kind of vent it is and how you want it to look. i often thought about defusing the corners of my cosworth vents with glass just to be different coz now every (unts got them. then re-seal with either the sikaflex of a paintable silastic sealer. seal on underside to because after a few years (or sooner with dodgey install) they (like everything else in/on the car) moves around, breaks the seal then starts rusting. i have a mate with the mid section of a xb gt bonnet grafted into an xf. looks awsome from the outside but the inside isn't so nice. hope that helps.
