Hi guys
im looking at buying an AU2 XR8 ute. The one im looking at has a gearbox problem, it skips from 1st to 3rd gear. The guy selling it said that it has a broken band. would this be what it is and also what would it cost to fix roughly? cheers

Does it go straight into 3rd from take off? Could be going into limp mode which is 3rd gear. I believe if the band was broken you would have no drive at all depending if it was fwd or rev band.

i havent actually driven it but from what the guy said it goes from 1st then straight to 3rd, skipping 2nd gear. So i dont think it is solely stuck in 3rd gear.

same thing happened to me when i broke my auto, since 2nd and 4th are the same band. went straight from 1st to 3rd and had no 4th, full rebuild needed,
also would suggest looking at another vehicle, sound like its had a hard time
