I have a pair of Monroe Gas struts in my old EA that I would like to remove. Do I need spring compressors to get them out? I have everything undone but is misses getting over the lower control arm by about an inch...

you can get them out without compressing the spring...
do you have both sides jacked up ??? as the sway can hold the suspension up a little if you only have one side jacked up.. otherwise just push down on the suspension and it should be enough to get it over... |

do you have both sides jacked up ??? as the sway can hold the suspension up a little if you only have one side jacked up.. otherwise just push down on the suspension and it should be enough to get it over... I only have 1 side jacked up - will hoist the other one up and see what happens. Cheers RD

Jack both fronts *almost* did it. In the end I had to take off the upper control arm nut which worked....

I dropped the car without struts in it just to see what it looked like. Talk about in the weeds! Except for the back which was still at 4x4 height it looked pretty cool
 A couple of old aircon pumps jambed inbetween the top arm and the body eventually allowed me to get the jack out.

Cheers RD yea lol i forgot to mention the upper control arm needed to be un done at the ball joint or the inner guard... anyway you got it...
