Hey guys a couple weeks ago I picked up a pair soudstream, ls652's from cashies, for a fair good price, thinking I'd put them in the parcel shelf to no avail as they sit up maybe 1/4-1/2", and the factory grill far from cover them.
Anyway I basically shoved them away figuring I'll look into them again soon. Anyway, all I can think of for the rear is cut the parcel shelf, spacer or pod, result looks non factory/ illegal/ permanent alteration. So is there anything I'm not thinking of, lathe the speakers down tempting, but potentially a big waste. Otherwise what about for the front doors I currently have a pair of s type 2 ways in there. Would the soundstreams be any better in the door than the s types? How much depth is there before the window, as these are f**k tall? I'd pull it off and measure myself but just had a big f**k around with putting woodgrain trims just before i got them, and not feeling like it at the moment.

Hi mate, the way my rears are fitted is by putting timber spacers under the carpet on the parcel shelf, still retains that factory look and gives you the clearance you will need to mount them. In regards to putting them in the doors, there is bugger all clearance. If the S Type fit leave them there and put the soundstream on the shelf.
Regards Trent

why not mount them underneath the parcel shelf , you may still be able to use the factory covers if the holes line up

Ah brilliant idea, I figured there might've been something i wasn't thinking of, unless it hit the amp. I'll have to check again this weekend.

Gave it a look but it hits on the cone at the top, nor did any of the wholes line up, and i don't think i can really space it any lower with it clearing the amp.
I might try playing around with spacing them up next weekend but I have a feeling they look a bit ou of place still. Maybe i should just stash them for the XL. Anyway by the way got a question for people running amps, it seems mines draining my battery when it's connected, it goes to standby but it still has a fan going and s**t, I've found it's lucky to hold enough charge to restart the car after 24hrs. Anybody got any thoughts on how they get around this problem, as it's f**k having to get it jumped all the time.

Are the amps switching off properly, is the fan still running once you turn off the head unit?

Make sure you have the ends of the cables on the amp in little crimp thingys and the remote wire isnt frayed over onto the power wire. Thats what happened in the Landcruiser and it drained my battery every time.
