In the kind of situations where the motor overheats, a cooler thermostat will do little or nothing. At 92deg both thermostats are open, and from then on there is no difference between them. 92 degrees is the opening temp not the temp when thermostat is fully open, add another 7-10 degrees before fully open. That's why the 82 degree is used by BPT performance and alot of other shops. The Hotter thermostat was used by ford to reduce nitrogen dioxide emissions by increasing combustion temps. Most cars of similar era run mid 80 degree thermostats. Cheers.............

Makes my engine run cooler in summer with the a/c on and fuel consumption did not change. Trip meter fuel consumtion values remained unchanged. Cheers.....

Brett They're all ironed out now. I have the smaller variant around $600. Plug and play, and finally no rad issues! Have had 4 radiators all different brands including natrad and they all started leaking within 18 months. For the first summer ever, I have no rad probs! 4 radiators at $220 each = $880 = PWR Radiator.

Sometimes both of my falcons run at the bottom of the normal range, if i fitted a cooler thermostat, what then?
If you run on lpg and fit an 84deg thermostat, what about freezing issues? By-the-by i noticed the AU thermostat is a whisker cooler, 91deg.
