I'm getting sick of disconnecting the battery every time I want to clear the KAM. I noticed that pin 55 is KAM power. Should I be able to put a switch to that wire and just flick that over when I want?

Could I still run the car with it switched off?

I dont think that you can still run the car, but try it and see. Im keen to know if it works too. In the A9L binary, there is a word that you can change to clear the KAM via tuning software and hardware, but Ive been unsuccessful in finding it within the Aussie 5ltr bins.

quoted from cgrey on eectuning...

"His strategy probably doesn't have that option. XKAMRF and Z_KAMCLR were added as hacks. Z_KAMCLR is what the GUFx defs have. I ASSUME XKAMRF is what CBAZx has???"

Is that the word you were looking for? If so, I don't think you'll be able to find it, as he says, it's a hack.

What he did tell me is that if I save an incompatible tune on one of the spots on the tweecer and switch to that momentarily it should clear the KAM.

Brett, KAM = Keep Alive Memory, stores all your fault codes and the adaptive learning for your EEC.

Chad, I read about loading another foreign bin on EECTuning.org as well, but Ive yet to try it. Not keen on the idea of perhaps frying something that will render the ECU useless. Maybe one day Ill give it a go with TunerPro and my Ostrich when I have a spare ECU. I cant dissasemble or understand the code, so Ill have to leave that up to the yanks, maybe just a switchable KAM power will be enough to clear it, then disable your adaptive learning and set the adjustment factors to zero untill you get the tune you want, then dial them back in and let them do the mild tuning that they were intended for.

When I get around to it, I'll put the switch in and let you know how I go. I have a lot of other stuff to sort out now before I get to that point. It's beginning to get it over me! haha
