hi. iv'e done two of these conversions. the 4 speed auto does fit the tunnel but i had to carefully cut the trans crossmember mount off the floor and move it back 4 inches. if you want to keep your xf 3 speed, put a ea 3pd bell housing onto your xf trans

The T5's are all the same box, well '87 on, the difference is they have tuffer parts and stuff like that, the only trouble you may have is with the bellhousing but if your using the OHC I6, it'll be fine.

And the XF dash runs on, inputs from the gearbox(speed), std. tacho line. Fuel will work. Volts should be the same, and oil pressure should be too, cause the oil pressure sender looks the same on the X-flow as ELs, but you'd have to make sure it was one with a gauge cause other wise it wouldn't work, So you'd just have to replace the sender with a guage sender. So my guess would be that it would work.

And on another note, i had this idea too. but i was going with a written of EL-AU. Well AU if i had the dosh, cause they rev better then the early cars.

On the subject of engine mounts, does the EF motor and its mounts mate up with the XG lower mounts or do you have to get EB-ED mounts and put them on the EF motor ?

Whats involved in cutting the rear crossmember mounts off the floor.

Is it major oxy cutting / welding or is it just brackets ?

Which crossmember do you use the XF one or the XG one ?

My engine is ready to go in. Just need some time off work to put it in. Hopefully the first week in April.

I've been looking at the center console surround for the 3 speed auto compaired to the 4 speed auto. Any ideas on how to keep it looking as tidy as possible? At this stage I think I'm going to try and make something to fit into the 3 speeds cover. Would like to see some photos if anyone has done this mod. I don't want to use an EB center console as it's shape is different, and would it even fit?

Hi all, (particularly Ferntree Gully dismantlers...) I've posted elsewhere looking at replacement motors - and XF/G's are virtually the same as an XB kinda....sooo, will EA - EB motors kinda fit in an XB?? how hard a transplant are we talkking

With all the time and effort you are about to put into it ... it might be easier to sell the XF ute and buy and XG ute.

I just bought my XG "S" ute for $5750.

Has been lowered ... 17" rims ... exhaust ... and in pretty good nick.

Engine is quiet with no leaks ... same with the T5 in it ... and the clutch is good too.

It might be cheap in the long run to find an XG ... as you will get the better interior as well.

Just my 2c
