the fan belt on my power steering pump continues to fall off everytime i put the pedal to the floor. i have noticed that on the power steering pulley the front side of the pulley is really shiny so im guessing there is some misalignement somewhere.
soed anyone know a fix for this problem. im gunna try some belt grip today and see if it can get any grip there. cheers

well are u adjusting it correctly? or if its a pre tensioner then make sure its working correctly if they are then run engine and see if the pully moves a lot if so u might need a new pully if its bent which i doubt or the bearing in the power steering is gone.

I just replaced all my pulleys & belt as of that reason & found it was the tensioner. Also as i went to take off (manual gearbox) the pulleys sliped & started to squeel. Replaced thetensioner & everything is fine now. BTW use a genuine Ford tensioner.

cool thanks. it only pops off when im hard accelerating. im gunna try belt grip cause the belt twists around the power steering pully. evetything looks good. the tensioner is keeping tension on the belt and the pullys look pretty straight.

No harm in trying a bit of belt grip, even if it doesn't work. I have belt issues as well - the tensioner keeps slacking off, resulting in a very nasty squeal from the alternator belt
But if your's just keeps flicking off, and the pulleys look straight, belt grip's a good thing to try.

well looking and beight straight are 2 different things.....
the pully in question could be out by 2 degres and there is no way you can see that by eye!

I was having the same problem on my eb, so i just got nice and rough on it I went through three alternator (and in turn water pump) belts in under three weeks. The first time I needed to get towed, the second and third I replaced it on the side of the road by torchlight The worst part about it though, is if you dont catch it quick enough, it overheats. And theres radiator pipes in the way that you bump and hence burn your arm on

ahh thanks people.
it looked like the belt grip has worked. The belt was squeeling everytome i starter her in the mornings b4 work. now it seems to have fixed the problem : ) next problem i got is rego due in 2 weeks so i better start saving : )hehe

all my power steering issues turned out to be the tensioner pulley
the bracket it sits on was not quite straight got a new one from macarthur parts plus, and all fixed
