how much is too much coming out the back? after the radiator blew out on the bendigo cruise i was scared the head gasket would have been harmed, but the radiator guy said pressure test was ok.
if is start her up, let it idle for a bit, then give a few pulls on the throttle, Im geting a lot of water on the ground coming from the exhaust. very noticble, not just a few drips im talking about maybe a foot long patch. The oil is not milky. I have not used a drop of coolant. I dont quite know what to think. is it the begining of the end for my gasket, or something else? PS I run it on 98 ron, without it being tuned to that spec fuel.

condensation?
Happen in the morning or after its been sitting a long while? The amount of water out of the exhaust doesnt exactly mean the radiator is on its way out or the head gasket is about to go.

If you aren't losing coolant, then the water out your exhaust probably isn't coolant
Especially if it's pressure tested okay.

Your car doesnt need to be tuned to run 98

take your car for a drive (30 mins or more)and get everything nice and warm..
then give it a few revs now if theres no water theres no problem!! like others have said its probably just condensation.. |

on start up its fine man, happens to most the cars at my house sometimes haha makes the drive way look funny. mine does it a little bit when its cold weather and my brothers ed does it, and he had his head gasket done about 2 months ago.
if your cars blowing s**t out the exhaust once its warm you might wanna get it checked out

lets just say ive owned cars before and none of them have put out this much condensation before, hence why I ruled out condensation before I even posted here. The only one that put out more was the EB when the head gasket went.
I know i dont have to tune my car to run 98 ron, otherwise it wouldnt have ran for the last 6 months. I just thought it may have caused the computer to make some wierd adjustment that may contribute to excessive water vapour. I dont know. Every clue is valuable coz its one more thing ruled out. Ill do that test and see if it still blowwing after a ride around town. ill even see if i can take a pic of how much is left on the ground. cheers for the replies boys, was stressing all day about having to get my head done when i just did the diff, and got a new computer lol.

Grimketel...I put water all over the garage door when I park close enough while engine is cold. Sometimes when I park further away from the garage, I have water shot out at about half a metre from the exhaust...
Don't worry, it's just condensation. phong =P~

sounds like its just doin its job.. if it pressure tested ok then i wouldnt worry.
maybe a engine compression test would put your mind at ease that its not a head gasket/water jacket cracked

will look into a compresion test then, thanks for the tip.
I suppose it could be the pipe causing condensation, it never used to do it on the factory system, and only noticed it after getting a redback 2.5 catback on it. if your new system has less mufflers and no resinators you'll get heaps more water out the back as it won't collect in the mufflers and rust them out.
i noticed an increase in water out the exhaust when i put the extractors and new cat convertor on. my system only has one muffler.

I'll never get away since that incident lol. I'm sure car is fine ...so did the exhaust water stop after you went for a drive? phong =P~

phong, there wasnt any coming out when i got from work home, if i stuck my hand there it just got very hot very fast not like on startup where its wringing wet with a few seconds exposure. Sadly you will probably never fully live down that single moment of your life, if someone else had done something similar, I dont think it would have stuck the way it has. Bloody good anecdote though. Very thoughtful of you to provide us with so much entertainment value. its the gift that keeps on giving.
