nope, it will fit fine.. just use all the accessories from the 3.9 and you'll be fine.

Your CFI rocker cover won't fit that head. Look at the radius where the "D" seal goes on the EF head, and theres none on the 3.9 head.

are you daft? the rocker cover will fit on no dramas as long as he gets the tappet cover gasket to go with it. or if he gets the cork gasket then he needs to buy the "D" bits seperate the only issue i can see if with the bolts that hold the tappet cover on as 3.9 EA/EB head hell even the 4L EB to ED use a stud type of setup and the EF to AU use a bolt setup...

I didn't think I was daft, so i'll let the pics do the talkin, eh?
The clean head is an EF head, the dirty head is a 3.9 head.
The width where the D seal goes is different.
By the way, the last of the ED's had the bolt type rocker cover, same as used on the XH utes.

ok the slightist of differences, but just enough to not work i assumed since that ef/el tappet covers were retro fitted to earlier motors for looks thought it would work the other way around.

sorry cheers geoff

I have put a ef rocker cover onto an 3.9 head without problems, I was unaware of any difference in the D size.
