I have a slightly smokey difficulty... When flooring it I get a burst of black, which fades but doesn't die entirely until I lift foot. Sure - could just be an old motor with virtually no rings left...
When the hose to the MAP sensor went and perished and fell off it was replaced with a bit of thin fuel hose. Could this hose be doing a s**t poor job and confusing the MAP into providing an incorrect reading? Just figure that the hose might actually compress itself as it's not rigid plastic like the originals. If it compressed under suction then obviously the MAP wouldn't pick up manifold pressure change for a split second and then (if foot still floored) the hose would try to expand meaning the MAP would get a few PSI extra reading out of it? Have replaced MAF sensor... Have not done the O2 one tho. Maybe should do that? |

of it? Definatly NOT. Blue smoke is worn or tired enigne and components, black smoke is from running rich. I don't think the hose would be the culpurate, as it should be tougher than the vacuum hose it originally had. If you have changed the maf, i'd look at oxy sens.

Yeah, think I still own an O2 sensor someplace... Does look like it runs rich for a bit, more obvious when using the jandal tho....
Although - have you ever tried removing the hose from the MAP with engine going? It goes real real rich... Real quick... Will recheck the hose has a real good seal on map and BBM base. As for O2 - Cheers for that, it was next on my list... Any ideas on the fuel smell when going from loading the engine to no load?... http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=70496 Cheers again... |

That my friend is indeed running rich.

Cheers man. Put a new o2 sensor and an original pressure pipe to the MAP today. Seems a little better, but then we have a southerly front coming through that may be blowing the fumes away quicker than I can smell them.
Checked the charcoal filter, and it all appears fine, even if the front panel had an impression of it left in it from Asian driver impact! Good old Ford.... |
