Hi all,
Very new to gas systems but just bought an ex-taxi with new motor. Well 92000 km old so not new but better then 600000 km. I have since filled the car with gas after its first fill up and found that I am getting 4km to the litre. There was a thousand stop starts in there which explains a decrease in milage to the gallon, however the numbers suggest the system requires a tune. I have identified a bolt designated BAL (left hand side), Two allen key screws in the top (one deisgnated R idle), a bolt with a spring plus a bolt on the left side desginated L (set a little to the left of centre at the moment see pictures). Anyone able to help me with the tuning procedures on this unit? The engine is a EFI 96 Model Ford 4.0 litre which I believe manages itself but the gas is its owns beast. The screw with the spring is the idle controller.
The knob that says L and R (Lean & Rich) is the mixture settings, run it too much on the L side you risk back fires Try running it in the middle and go for a drive, and keep moving the knob either way until you are happy with the power/throttle response. If its too lean will have no power up top If to rich will struggle to get off the line Its a bit of trial and error to get it right

that mixer set up is from what i can see is a close loop set up the 2 fittings that screw in the mixer are for FCV (fuel control valve) that have vacumm lines attacted & going to the convertor to an elbow & a damper valve all to be controled by the impco processor....is all that still there ???

My ex-taxi had the impco processor on the strut tower, passenger side.
Also D/s kick panel, or under the seat... Being a taxi you might even find it on top of the dash mate |

the fcv's are s**t and on my cars barely work properly..
I could not get mine to run properly intil i replaced the diaphragm in the mixer...u can get differently callibrated ones... originally mine was running around 10:1 A/F now its around 12:1...still not right but much better...the adjusters dont do much when your miles out to begin with
