turning the key does nothing except waste time,,the best way is to disconnect the negative terminal and leave for about an hour or overnight if possible

over time the ecu collects data from the various sensors scattered all over the car, sometimes this data gets a bit muddy and the car starts being stupid.

so to give it a fresh start and allow the car to relearn you can clear all data that was collected.

there are some bits that can't be removed but the car basicly relearns what you want it to do and runs good for a while then you do it again.

sort of like an electronic tune up..

Resetting the computer erases the short term fuel compensation maps, resets the idle and clears any fault codes in the EEC. All base fuel and timing maps remain the same, these cannot be erased.

Hi Guys

Read all comments re resetting ECU and how it will relearn when reconnected to battery. I'm hearing 30 mins off battery.

What about the Smart lock - any issues here?

I've had idle problems - erratic goes hi and slowly drops back - . I've replaced ISC and TPS with new components - got it to idle at 6- 700 - goes hi when put in drive.

Ordered ECU code recognition unit for further diagnostics.

any ideas?
