i did and it makes a bit of a difference in the top end. ther is a huge restriction in the port in the section just before it enters the head the port sizing is much smaller than the head

Its not an issue with mis-aligned ports. The problem is that the lower intake has skewed ports that do not allow air to pass easily. Yes you can port them if you are handy with a die grinder or can't afford something better. Try searching the web, there is plenty of information out there. Go to tmoss porting. He has done plenty on the stock inlet there.

well i only did it coz i had to take the lower half of the manifold of and noticed the size differece betwen the head and the manifold. i have had a bit of experience with tidying up heads and manifolds. this one has to be one of the easyiest to work on as there is alot of material surroundin the runners. im not to sure of what the idea behind the restrition in the runners but simply tappering them to the correct size has a positive effect

its not a bad option on std heads, but it still runs out of puff above 5000RPM on something with a little more poke. Ive done mine, but it will be coming off as soon as the explorer is done.

Am running a ported ho inlet with gt40p heads at about 10 to 1 comp 1.72 rollers and advanced headers. every thing ells is stock in eb xr8 man. duel fuel High 14 1/4 on petrol mid 15 on gas. Could do with lower gears as she is making power about 1000rpm higher in rev range. Has Better low down and midrange then stock au2 with explorer. Car uses 20% less fuel then b4 mods, a little side benefit.
