i have a pair of eb xr8's 1 auto, 1 manual both in black pearl.. why ?.. i am not sure exactly, fate i suppose. i like them despite the lack of any sound economic wisdom.. both are in various stages of reconditioning and both will need drive train rebuilds with some 'sensible' modifications.. i have a basic mechamical aptitude and as such will not be doing any of the work myself.. i learnt that lesson eventually....

So guys i would very much appreciate some advice with this project.. i would like to make good decisions from this point on and i know the best chance of that happening is to draw on the experience, expertise and recommendations from people who know..
in a nutshell i need to decide what mods make sense and who should do the work.. i figure since the motors are to be recon'd anyway there is bound to be some decent kw gain for a couple more grand.. but what are those options and which ones are the right ones.
I have been told to start with a better exhaust system / air intake set up.. sounds feasible if so what?? and where ??...... then what ?? cam and computer?, heads?, fuel injection? pistons? etc.
be good to hear from anyone who might be able to steer me in the right direction.. by the way i live in melbourne northern suburbs but i am happy to take the work anywhere in melbourne when i feel confident i am with the right people..thanks rowdy.

G'day Steve welcome to the forums mate.

5 litre windsor rebuild. I have a good rebuild of my engine the link is in my sig at the bottom of my post.

I used all Ford parts.
Here is a quick summary.

GT40P heads, cam and roller rockers from an AU III XR8 220.
ELGT MAF
Ford motorsport 24lb injectors
AU 70mm Tickford throttle body.
Under drive pulleys
Rollmaster timing chain kit.

I already had an explorer manifold as part of the EL series 2 XR8 and I had that match ported to the GT40P heads that came off a 220kw AU XR8. They had the larger valves than standard.

After using a switch chip eliminator from our site Sponsor BPT motorsport and Barry from their tuned it I got 196rwkw which is pretty darn good I reckon.

In my build I've also got a no s**t costing.

Only thing I can't help you with is a place in Melbourne to do it as I'm in Perth.

One of our other members will easily help you in that department.

Black ha? Good colour !!
The Windsor is an easy motor to rebuild..
It doesn't require anything or anyone special..
Just look around in your local area..
Yep start with atleast gt40 heads .. AU linlet.
65mm throttle body and 70mm maf..
The exchange rate is not that great but there are combinations on
