Considering a manual conversion in my eb 5.0, do i have to source a v8 gearbox or are they the same as a 4.0 gearbox.
I seem to remember reading something about different sized input shafts or something to that effect.
cheers

You need a V8 GB as a start.
Plus you will need to trick the ECU.

NO you dont need to trick the ecu as v8's have a separate tcm.

Just unplug the harness to it.

But the tcm also controls the a/c so you wont be able to use it if you unplug it.

AND you can get the input shaft on the 6cyl t5 modified to fit it has been done by barnacas in his wagon.

If you don't fool the TCM, it wont send the correct signal to your EECIV. It takes about 15 degrees of timing out of your motor which really defeats the whole purpose. Do a search, the answers are there. However doing the same thing on a EF-EL will not work as they are a different kettle of fish.
