Hi all,
I was just wondering if it was possible to change the single spinner in my BF MK11 Fairmont Ghia to an LSD? And if so how much would it cost?

Wouldn't mind getting an LSD in my BF wagon either.

Can I swap a LSD XR6 ute diff or do I need mods?

Yes it is. But get the earlier style LSD as fitted to ED-AU which is far superior to the B-series standard fitment item. Both should bolt straight in. Call Steve at Diff and Gearbox Industries on Newmarket Rd to get it done properly.

when you say get the ED-AU style do you mean the LSD Center or the whole axle? as the axle would not work as the BF rear is IRS ( Independant Rear Suspension ) Im assuming you mean just the Center, i will track Steve down and see what i can find out, thanks for the heads up on it.

Just the earlier style centre. I've already replaced my BA LSD with one from an EF.

really? i was always under the impression that the IRS diffs had an extra circlip in them to hold the CV in place?

Hmmm.... You may be right, but I'm not sure. My conversion was in a ute diff, which of course won't have the circlip. However, I was under the impression that the LSD part of the centre was the same for IRS and live rear ends in BAs.

A diff specialist should know.

Is the tailshaft still the same or will the yoke have to be replaced?

as far as i know the ute is built on the same chassis as the wagon, so it should fit. dont quote me on that though..

Ute chassis is longer than a wagon chassis, ergo the tailshaft will be a different length.
